Canvas

Summary

A startup based in San Francisco, backed by Sequoia, Canvas, hired me to work on design of their product — an app for making dashboards which can show charts and tables using data in other apps and databases.

Old design

Canvas had a product built, but it was described as outdated visually and while users could set up dashboards with it, it wasn't so easy to use, some things took too many steps and clicks, and users couldn't quickly switch through dashboards, they had to go back to the list of dashboards to select another.

New design

Founders of Canvas suggested making it like Notion. I worked on making the product easier to use and including new features, and made it more like Notion, where users can flip through pinned dashboards via sidebar. Overall, I made it faster and easier to set up, use and collaborate in dashboards.

Results

Design changes after being implemented made Canvas #1 product of the month on ProductHunt, with a lot of positive feedback from users about the app's look and ease of use.

"Adis acted as a true founding designer on our team. He needs very little direction, and I have honestly never met anyone this proactive, productive, and pragmatic at the same time. He has a real knack for UX design, and seeing user problems before they occur.

He's basically the startup CEO's dream. He redesigned the v2 of our app from the ground up, knowing exactly what to redo, as if he was an expert in our domain (data analytics). We received raving reviews of the redesign from both existing and new users, and I believe it was instrumental in us getting #1 on Product Hunt."
